Shane McDaniel, LCSW
My name is Shane McDaniel. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 16 years of experience in the mental health field working with youth, adults, and seniors to support their mental health and wellbeing. I am a volunteer group facilitator for the Alzheimer’s Association, have been a certified trainer for Mental Health First Aid, and have worked with the EASA Center for Excellence at Portland State University to develop and promote Mental Health Early Intervention services. I currently also teach Psychology as a part-time instructor at Chemeketa Community College.
In my spare time I enjoy backpacking, hiking with my wife and three dogs, kayaking, and mountain biking.
I believe that humans have a distinct ability to grow, change, and heal through fostering innate human potential, the therapeutic relationship, and optimizing the brain’s neuroplasticity. I work to incorporate these factors into my approach to help individuals achieve their goals through therapy.
I am trained in and utilize various therapeutic modalities, depending on my client’s needs and goals, including: motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, family systems therapy, and dual diagnosis treatment modalities. I also provide Heart-Centered Hypnotherapy.
I utilize a person-centered, trauma-informed, and solution-focused approach coupled with strong clinical knowledge, evidence-based practice(s), and applicable neuroscience principals to achieve an individualized therapeutic treatment plan.
I also specialize in advanced evaluation and assessment of complex or co-occurring conditions.
I provide therapy to those who may be experiencing symptoms/problems related to (not limited to):
- Depression & mood disorders (bipolar spectrum, etc.)
