Alison Roffman, LCSW

My name is Alison Roffman and I am a licensed Clinical Social Worker in Corvallis, OR. I have been working in this field for close to 4 years. I first completed an internship at Corvallis Outreach Inc working to support those living in the transitional shelter. This included addiction counseling and teaching Non-violent communication skills. I then spent a year interning at Oregon State University counseling a wide variety of diverse students. I co-facilitated groups including Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and Brene Brown’s Shame and Resilience Course. I then worked for Lumina Hospice for 3 years where I offered end of life counseling for patients and their families. I also co-facilitated the family grief group and taught Powerful Tools for Caregivers. I then began my private practice for individuals and families. I have continued to study, taking trainings on trauma, addiction, polyvagal theory and internal family systems. I also completed an integrative somatic therapy program.

Treatment Orientation

My approach is collaborative, person centered and trauma informed. We all could use some support as we navigate through life’s many challenges and transitions. It is easy to feel overwhelmed and stuck, and go into survival mode. My goal is to assist each client in exploring their mind, body and emotions in order to deepen their awareness, gain insight and initiate growth while developing skills to no longer just survive, but thrive. I aim to create a warm, safe and supportive atmosphere, free from judgment. I intend to meet each person wherever they are at and explore whatever is alive and present in each session.

I also take a whole systems approach, assisting clients in exploring and understanding family and relationship patterns, as well as other areas that impact one’s life. I believe a person is heavily influenced by their interactions, experiences and surroundings. I feel it is important to reflect on our patterns and way of being in the world and employ our insight in order to bring about healing and long lasting positive changes.

I often incorporate mindfulness based, body centered practices and teach techniques to assist self- regulation when feeling overwhelmed. Yet, I also utilize other evidence based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy as indicated. Sometimes I use Motivational Interviewing or Solution- Focused Therapy when needed. Together we will assess what is right for you.

I provide individual therapy to adults who may be experiencing:

  • Depression and Mood Disorders
  • Anxiety and Panic Disorders
  • Trauma and PTSD
  • Relationship Issues and Divorce
  • Life Transitions & Adjustments
  • Chronic Illness
  • End of Life
  • Grief and Loss
  • Caregiver Stress and Burnout
  • Self esteem and negative self image

I welcome EVERYONE and aim to celebrate DIVERSITY.
