My name is Karen Siegel and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Oregon and Florida. I have been in the field ofsocial services and mental health for over 20 years serving adolescents, adults and couples. Reaching these clients through the school system, behavioral health organizations and private practice. I received my Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Connecticut and my Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Central Connecticut State University.
My counseling approach is rooted in curiosity and understanding with a small edge of Northeast humor and wit. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which focuses on challenging distortions of thoughts or behaviors, addressing emotional dis- regulation and developing strategic goals and strategies to improve one’s level functioning. I also have specialized trainings through Gottman Institute for Couple’s Therapy. Addition trainings include: Emotional Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Psychodynamic, Person Centered and Mindfulness.
At times life can present a lack of clarity and confusion, but it is vital to remember that these moments are just that, moments.
I am committed to helping people express themselves, with the primary goal of gaining stability and strength within themselves and the within relationships that matter most. Entering into therapy takes courage and strength and I believe in each person’s innate ability to evolve and grow. I understand that certain times and situations cause feelings of isolation, disconnection and pain. My role is to provide an area that promotes healing and self- discovery at a pace that is comfortable and set by the individual or couple in front of me, creating an environment that is accepting, supportive and safe.
