Rachel Porter,NCC, LPC

My name is Rachel Porter and I am a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I have worked and volunteered in the mental health realm for the past 10 years. My professional experience includes working with adolescents, adults, and families within outpatient and school-based settings. I bring extensive experience to issues
faced by children, adolescents, and their families, including addiction, trauma, and emotional and behavioral struggles.
In my free time, I enjoy being with family, listening to podcasts, and exploring our beautiful state!

Treatment Orientation

I view my role as a counselor as empowering clients to find safety and healing by exploring the dynamics of the past and how they influence present thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors. Understanding these connections can create self-awareness and cultivate an environment for change. I focus on assisting clients in understanding their own values and beliefs, as the client is the expert in their own story and life. I have an open, down-to-earth, and straightforward
approach to counseling. I draw on a broad range of therapeutic modalities including trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, strengths-based and narrative theories.

I work with adolescents, adults, and couples who may be experiencing:

  • Depression and mood disorders
  • Anxiety, panic, worries, stress
  • Complex Trauma/Post Traumatic stress
  • Adjustments to life changes
  • Relational/Family Issues
  • Parenting challenges
  • Adolescent emotional and behavioral challenges

I welcome ALL races, religions, sexual orientations, gender identities, and expressions, abilities, ethnicities, and people without judgment.
