Elizabeth Coronado, LPC
Hola! Hello!
Thanks for taking the time to read my bio. I hope you find it helpful. My name is Elizabeth Coronado. I’ve worked in the mental health field for over 13 years. I’m bilingual and speak fluent Spanish. I permanently moved back to Oregon from south Texas in 1994. I have three kids, 2 adult sons and a teenage daughter. They’re great!I’m very family and friend oriented. I love the Willamette Valley and its surrounding biomes. I enjoy hiking, and love to camp. I like listening to podcasts about wellness, the brain, emotions, relationships, nutrition and parenting but prefer reading good ole fashion paperbacks. My favorite reading place…the beach with the sand under my feet.
Therapeutic Approach
Regarding therapy, I’ve worked with children as young as 10, and adults as young as 85. I have attended numerous training courses throughout the years, and I’m required to maintain yearly continued education hours for licensure. So, here’s the helpful part I mentioned earlier…talk therapy is one avenue that supports individuals to gain perspective about the circumstances that have them seeking therapy in the first place. I say this with love and laughter…therapy can be hard, but it can also be great. It evokes feelings of discomfort and emotional pain as well as empowerment and joy! You will be sharing a lot of personal information so go at your own pace. The overall goal of therapy is to embrace healing of the mind, body and spirit. Counseling should be beneficial for every person seeking treatment.
I’m familiar with many types of therapies, but my theoretical strengths are (in summary):
Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), it promotes collaborative problem solving where we brainstorm about what’s working and what’s not;
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), helps identify the thoughts that create negative emotions that lead to behaviors that inhibit emotional and personal growth and;
Motivational Interviewing, it explores the motives for feeling stuck and then finding ways to achieve forward momentum.
Issues I treat
Anxiety
Depression
Mood disorders
Abuse
Trauma
Adjustment to Life Changes (divorce, relocation, adoption, new marriage, new parents, coparenting conflict, new/different career change, death and dying)
By bringing these small successes into awareness and repeating the effective changes, wellness begins to transpire. Individuals feel hopeful and confident and will be interested in creating a better life for themselves and their families. Solutions are already within a person but sometimes we need someone else’s perspective to help guide us. Together we will explore and integrate ways to enhance your mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing.
