In-Person Milwaukie & Telehealth
Heather Whitney, LCSW
I’ve worked as a therapist for the last 9 years, and a clinical social worker in hospital, school, and community agency settings for many years before that. I’ve helped people from all walks of life reflect on their thoughts and emotions, life situations and relationships, their deepest values.
I encourage people to be compassionate with themselves and others in the process, while staying open to inspiration and support for living in alignment with their core values. Therapy has been personally helpful for me, and I understand that growth isn’t always a linear process. I strive to be a caring, attentive and resourceful support along the way.
I welcome all races, religions, sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, abilities, ethnicities, all people, without judgment.
18yo+ Areas of specialty include: anxiety disorders, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, depression, trauma, and adjustment to chronic health issues.
The field of psychotherapy has so many frameworks and strategies to help people cope with symptoms, conflicts, and the stresses of our rapidly changing world. I get excited to explore these modalities with my clients when interested, especially Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mind-Body practices such as mindfulness meditation and EFT tapping. I’m trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy, an off-shoot of EMDR, a bilateral stimulation treatment for trauma. I strive to balance listening deeply, with sharing strategies for building psychological flexibility and resilience.
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my daughter, family and friends, practicing pilates & yoga, strumming my guitar, and seeing live music.
