Lizzie Sherman, LPC

Hello! My name is Lizzie Sherman and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I have several years of experience working in the mental health field in various settings such as in group practice, primary care clinics, and helping individuals experiencing acute mental health crises in psychiatric inpatient care. I have specialized in LGBTQIA+ populations, homeless youth, and neurodivergence throughout my career. In my free time I enjoy hiking, being outdoors, swimming, spending time with my two cats and my lovely wife.

Therapeutic Approach

Starting therapy can be an intimidating process and might bring up some big feelings! I believe in the importance of collaboration within the therapeutic space. This is a warm, kind, and non-judgemental environment to thrive and grow within. My view on therapy is that it is a collaborative process in which you are the expert in your own life, and you know you better than anyone! I am present to give a new perspective, help you explore new pathways, and create a narrative together. In this process, we can find new skills and figure out multiple ways in which your life may change or unfold.

My approach is an eclectic based approach grounded in attachment theory and narrative therapy. I work within practices such as CBT, client-centered therapy, trauma-informed practices, somatic therapy, and internal family systems (IFS). I am able to integrate play therapy techniques with younger clients to aid in their growth process. I let my clients and families guide the therapeutic journey to help achieve goals. I love being open, genuine, empathetic, and providing unconditional positive regarding towards clients. We can have successes together to create a supporting environment!

I provide therapy for children, teens, tweens, and adults who may be struggling with:

  • Depression

  • Trauma

  • LGBTQIA+

  • Child/Adolescent emotional and behavioral challenges
