Meredith Whitmore, MA, LPC
My name is Meredith Whitmore, a licensed professional counselor. I completed my undergraduate counseling internships at the Oregon State Hospital in Junction City, Oregon, and at the Center for Community Counseling in Eugene, Oregon, in 2020.
Before I worked as a therapist, I wrote and edited for various organizations and taught literature and writing at the high school and college levels, domestically and abroad. The journey to helping people improve their mental health has been deeply fulfilling to me. It is my greatest pleasure to help clients grow emotionally and cognitively as they develop new mental health skills that they can use for a lifetime. Beyond even that, I am my clients’ biggest cheerleader when it comes to their successes–especially when they’re struggling through difficult times.
Treatment Orientation
Therapists receiving frequent training in various types of counseling approaches. Currently, my current focus is primarily on EMDR, CBT, and DBT, all of which are evidenced-based modalities. With the tools and perspectives these approaches offer, people can recognize unhelpful thinking and how they can develop healthier perspectives on their lives and problems. They can also discover how to helpfully address their woundedness, whether it is through childhood abuse, difficult relationships, mental illness, trauma, or any other source of pain. Clients can discover things about themselves that they might not have realized before, as well as how to use these realizations to help themselves to grow and heal. This provides them a fabulous and exciting opportunity to change their lives for the better.
