Nikita Ramakrishnan, PhD, Licensed Psychologist
Welcome! I am a Counseling Psychologist licensed in Oregon. I was raised in Salem and earned my Bachelors in Psychology and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at the University of Oregon before completing my PhD training in the Southern United States. I’ve had the privilege of working with ages 6-79 across diverse settings, including outpatient, private practice, university counseling, healthcare, intensive outpatient, and domestic violence shelters. At Healing Haven, I work with adolescents and adults seeking support for concerns such as anxiety, mood disorders, relationship concerns, self-esteem, trauma, and everyday stress.
Approach to Therapy
My work integrates a variety of evidence-based therapies tailored to your goals and needs. I primarily draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Interpersonal Process Therapy, and Feminist Therapy, all within a trauma-informed framework. When tangible coping skills are needed, I incorporate strategies from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Simply put, I believe that life challenges are inevitable, but when we stay grounded in our values, sense of self, and relationships, those challenges can become transformational rather than destructive. Our work together will involve understanding your patterns, embracing the difficult thoughts and feelings, and developing skills to respond in ways that align with your most authentic self. My hope is that therapy feels like a space where you feel deeply heard and cared for, while also encouraged to expand and grow.
Social Identity and Inclusion
I welcome people of all races, religions, sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, abilities, and ethnicities with compassion and respect for your lived experiences. I recognize that our mental health is shaped by the intersection of our social identities and the systems we live within. As a queer, Indian, cisgender female therapist, I bring awareness of my own identities and worldview into the room. When you take the brave step to begin therapy with me, I aim to build a validating, curious, and collaborative relationship as we engage in your healing work.
