Rachel Porter, NCC, LPC
My name is Rachel and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). I have worked in the mental health realm for the past 10 years in the private and school-based spheres. I bring extensive professional experience to issues of trauma, anxiety, pre-and-postpartum adjustments, depression, adolescent and childhood emotional and behavioral struggles, parenting and relationship issues. I aspire to help my clients improve their coping skills, enhance relationships, increase self-esteem and build positive communication skills.
In my free time, I enjoy being with family, listening to podcasts, reading and exploring our
beautiful state!
Treatment Orientation
Therapy allows us to have a confidential and non-judgement space to process life events and gain insight to better navigate them in a healthier way. I believe therapy allows us to explore who we are, who we want to be by exploring the dynamics of past experiences and how they influence our present thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors. Understanding these connections can help cultivate an environment for change and acceptance. I consider clients to be the experts in their own story and life and my role is to walk beside them as they navigate it.
I have an open, down-to-earth, and straightforward approach to counseling, offering clients a safe space where they can tell their stories. My approach is person-centered, and I draw on a broad range of therapeutic modalities including psycho-education, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care utilizing Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, strength-based and narrative therapies.
I work with adolescents, adults, and couples who may be experiencing (but not limited to):
Anxiety, panic, worries, stress
Depression and mood disorders
Pregnancy, Prenatal, Postpartum adjustments
Post Traumatic stress disorder, secondary or vicarious trauma
Relational/Family Issues
Career changes

I welcome ALL races, religions, sexual orientations, gender identities, and expressions, abilities, ethnicities, and people without judgment.
